I decided to go with my dad today to see what all he had to do.
First I had to wake up at 7:15 A.M. on my day off of school and got ready.
Next we went to the legion of Decatur, I think it was post 42.
Some of the men in the Legion, and the wagon they rode around in.(I rode on it too later)
My dad had to play Taps(the song you hear at funerals) four different times.
My dad, Dave Rice playing at one of the cemeteries.
Then we had to go back downtown for a parade.
And the crowd.
Then they threw a reef into the river, and it flipped over so you can't see the flowers. ):
Then they fired, and my dad played taps again. I think this was his best one(:
I got to carry his cornet for him, and people clapped for me, xD I felt so special.
Then I got to ride in the wagon on the way back.
The fire truck that followed us :D
I even saved the day. The brass of my band was suppose to show up and play the Star Spangled Banner, but no one came but me, so I held my music up for my dad to play. I didn't think about playing with him until it was already too later.
Then we were off o:
Then my family and I enjoyed some ham and beans and corn bread :D
I even got two shot gun shells; one went off and the other didn't.
Lastly I have a video of my dad playing taps at the bridge.
And of course an awesome picture of him (:
Dave Rice.
