Memorial Day

I decided to go with my dad today to see what all he had to do.

First I had to wake up at 7:15 A.M. on my day off of school and got ready.

Next we went to the legion of Decatur, I think it was post 42.

My dad had to play Taps(the song you hear at funerals) four different times.

Then we had to go back downtown for a parade.

Then they threw a reef into the river, and it flipped over so you can't see the flowers. ):

Then they fired, and my dad played taps again. I think this was his best one(:

I got to carry his cornet for him, and people clapped for me, xD I felt so special.

Then I got to ride in the wagon on the way back.

I even saved the day. The brass of my band was suppose to show up and play the Star Spangled Banner, but no one came but me, so I held my music up for my dad to play. I didn't think about playing with him until it was already too later.

Then my family and I enjoyed some ham and beans and corn bread :D

I even got two shot gun shells; one went off and the other didn't.

New Drum Majors!

This year for drum major we had Jose, Amy, Zach(Fluffy), Kandyce, David, and Tanner try out.
Jess gave them practice sessions, and it looked like it could go to Jose, Tanner, or Kandyce. Everyone did a wonderful job, but Tanner AND Kandyce got drum major!


This is the first time that we have ever had two drum majors.

Tanner, who is the head drum major, will be a senior next year.

Kandyce, the assistant drum major, going to be a Jr. next year.

These two wonderful people combined will help our band succeed this year(:

Band Banquet

Well I had to make my own food for the night. We had a band banquet to celebrate all out hard work this year in band, and we had to make food to bring. I made deviled eggs. (:

So then came the awards, they honored all of the members in the band. I got a certificate of achievement award and a most improved musician award. I was really quiet last year and didn't play out much, but this year i'm first trumpet on like everything (: I'm very proud of myself.

Next came the selection for the spirit stick. Last year Kandyce got it and Jess threw a pie into her face, and yes there were tears. It was amazing. This year Kandyce chose Daniel for the next holder of the spirit stick. He got a pie in his face. :)

Dude, Kandyce is amazing. She is my section leader in band, and we're just really good buddies. We even did pit together and if it weren't for her i'd be so lost in band. <3

Jake is my best friend in band. He and I share music all the time, and well band would just suck without him. He's awesome.

She sadly graduated early, but she was our original section leader. She's a wonderful trumpet player.

I had a lot of fun this year, and I hope next year is even better. Thank you Mrs. Corrigan for being our teacher this year!! :)

Thinking about my adult life

This is my wonderful boyfriend(: We've only been dating for about three months, but I've never felt closer to anyone. I can talk to him about anything, and he's always there for me. Then it makes me think of my future. I know I need to start looking for a job and get my license. I could have gotten my license like four months ago, but never saw the point because the price of gas. I'm going to be seventeen soon, so I need to start thinking about what I want to do. I'm good at drawing, but don't think I can work with it. So my goals this week are to look for a job at Wendys or Spring Garden, and study my drivers training notes so I can get my license. Also finals are coming up at school, so I need to study for those too. Goodie(:
